Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios on November 24, 2013

People’s champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is scheduled to fight against American light-welterweight boxer Brandon Rios in a 12-round welterweight bout at The Venetian in Macau, China, on November 24 of this year.

Pacquiao who has a record of 54-5-2, and 38 KOs has recently been defeated by Juan Manuel Marquez and before that by Timothy Bradley last summer.

Rios on the other hand, has a record of 31-1-1, and 23 KOs. He, like Pacquiao freshly tasted defeat against Mike Alvarado in a 12-round bout at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 30, 2013. Rios lost to Alvarado via unanimous decision with scores of 115-113, 115-113 and 114-113.

Reports say that Pacquiao had also been considering Mike Alvarado to be his opponent, but as per Michael Koncz (Pacquiao’s adviser), the choice to go with Rios was made because of the style matchup. Rios is a straight-ahead fighter who loves to get into a slugfest and it should make for a sensational television bout.

Rios lives and trains in Oxnard, California. Meanwhile, Pacquiao plans to prepare for the fight in General Santos City in the Philippines in order to avoid distractions.
