Bernadette Hernandez, the Filipina mother of Bruno Mars died Saturday (June 1) of brain aneurysm, the Associated Press reported, quoting a publicist for Bruno Mars' label, Atlantic Records who told the news on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to speak on the record.
"Hernandez was 55 years old. She died in Honolulu at Queens Medical Center; no other information was given," the AP said.
According to other reports, Bruno Mars' mother suffered a severe heart attack on May 31 and was confined at the Queen's Medical Center.
According to the AP, Bernadette Hernandez was a hula dancer and a singer who immigrated from the Philippines and "nurtured her son's interest in music at an early age."
