MANILA (UPDATE) – A fire hit the Divisoria Mall in Manila before midnight Wednesday and firefighters estimate that it may take about two days before they can fully put the blaze out.
Firefighters were having a hard time putting out the fire engulfing the mall, located at the corner of Juan Luna and Tabora streets, as thick smoke continue to emanate from the five-storey structure.
The fire allegedly began at the mall's basement level, but what caused it has yet to be determined.
The fire was at Task Force Charlie alarm, as of posting time.
Two people, security guard Teodoro Enriquez and utility worker Franklin Peralta, were trapped inside the burning building but were rescued about two hours after the fire erupted.
Firefighters have already contained the fire, but they were quoted by radio dzMM as saying that it will take at least two days before a "fire out" can be declared. – report from Noel Alamar, dzMM; and Carolyn Bonquin, ABS-CBN News
