Araw ng Maynila 2013 no classes in Manila June 24 as Malacañang declared as a holiday

‘No classes’ in Manila on June 24, the city’s foundation day, Malacanang has declared June 24 as a holiday (special non-working day) to give its people time to celebrate ‘Araw ng Maynila.’.

The declaration of the holiday was announced via Proclamation 604 which was signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr.:

WHEREAS, Monday, 24 June 2013 marks the 442nd Foundation Day anniversary of the City of Manila;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

This means ‘walang pasok’ in all schools, colleges and universities as well as government and private offices.
