The San Antonio Spurs play against the Miami Heat in Game 4 of the 2013 NBA Finals held at the AT&T Center on Thursday, June 13. Check out a video replay of the game highlights right here!

San Antonio started the first quarter hot and strong. Point guard Tony Parker, who had a slight hamstring strain, was able to play with the starting five. It seems the Spurs still have the momentum they got in the previous game as they took an early ten point lead, thanks to a 3 for 3 shooting from Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard.

Miami was struggling in the opening period. Mike Miller, who was hot in the three-point area in Game 3, joined the starting five. However, the Heat took advantage of six turnovers by San Antonio from a stepped-up defense and did an 8-0 run to even the score under 3 minutes in the 1st quarter. Miami eventually took the lead with 2 minutes to go. Miami was shooting 61% from the field.

1st Quarter Score: San Antonio Spurs 26 - 29 Miami Heat

Dwyane Wade played excellent defense as Miami got into an offensive explosion early in the second quarter. Wade had a couple shots and steal, and then on transition dished an assist to LeBron James, widening the lead to 9 that forced San Antonio to call a timeout under nine minutes in the first-half.

San Antonio tried to cut the lead. James committed an offensive foul, but Miami quickly recovered the ball after blocking a shot by San Antonio and then Wade got a soft touch for a 2 to earn his 14th point, which widened Miami’s lead to 10. Wade has been attacking the basket, putting pressure on San Antonio’s defense. Parker tried to respond and set up Leonard for a two just below the basket. The Spurs made seven straight points, but Heat defense was just over the top as they were also aggressive in the offensive end.

Parker and Boris Diaw, who was sidelined in Game 3, did tremendous shots as the clock was winding down to end the second quarter. San Antonio successfully made an 11-2 run to finish up the period.

2nd Quarter Score: San Antonio Spurs 49 - 49 Miami Heat

Score was nailed at 58 apiece when the opposing teams go against each other on defense, exchanging blocks and shots as they try to capture the lead. Wade had foul trouble early in the third period. He commited his fourth while trying to block a taller Tim Duncan, who started to pick up his game.

Mario Chalmers, who’s been silent in the first-half, nailed a three to put his team on top by five. Miami made seven straight points in just a brief period while Parker was resting. Leonard fought back, performed an awesome drive to the basket and drew a foul for a huge three-point play.

After a quick timeout, Chalmers made his second 3-point shot at the corner with 3 minutes remaining in the third. Miami’s defense has been terrific as San Antonio started to miss some shots. Chris Bosh took care of the boards for the Heat before he rested for the rest of the period.

Spurs sharp shooter Gary Neal retaliated and made a three as he was falling to cut the lead to 3. Wade quickly attacked the basket for a 3-point play. Green, on the other hand fired from downtown, hitting from long distance to end the third quarter.

3rd Quarter Score: San Antonio Spurs 76 - 81 Miami Heat

San Antonio started the fourth quarter without Duncan and Parker, but Neal continued with his hot hands. At the other end, Ray Allen and Wade provided points coming off a steal and turnover from the Spurs. Great hussle coming from Miami at this time.

Time was on the side of Miami as San Antonio allowed them to put a nine-point lead just 8 minutes to go in the final quarter. Wade was unstoppable. He garnered his 30th point from back-to-back highlight dunk and a jumper. Bosh, also having a terrific game, sank two jumpers to keep maintain the lead.

San Antonio had so many turnovers, eighteen until the last minutes of the fourth period. They looked frustrated. The two teams were just exchanging shots under five minutes in the second half. Miami took this one. Wade’s performance was superb tonight. No doubt about that.

4th Quarter Score: San Antonio Spurs 93 - 109 Heat. Miami wins Game 4, evens series 2-2
