MANILA - Did you know that owners of TV and radio stations will be penalized if they fail to synchronize their time devices with the Philippine Standard Time?
According to Republic Act 10535, owners of private television and radio stations who fail to calibrate and synchronize their time devices with the PST during their broadcast may be penalized with a fine of P30,000-P50,000 and in the case of second offense, revocation and cancellation of their franchises to operate.
Weather bureau PAGASA is mandated to set and maintain the PST.
PAGASA Astrophysical Observatory chief Mario Raymundo urged TV stations to always display the Philippine Standard Time in their programs. This way, he said the public can just turn on their TV sets and synchronize their watches with what is shown on TV shows.
