James Yap and his new Italian Girlfriend? Photo

James Yap and his new Italian Girlfriend?
James Yap and his new Italian Girlfriend?

MANILA, Philippines – Where was James Yap on Father’s Day?

This question was answered by the professional basketball player himself via a post he made in the image-sharing site Instagram on Wednesday.

Two days after his former wife, Kris Aquino, told the media that Yap was out of reach on Father’s Day, the 31-year-old cager surprised netizens as he posted a photo of himself with a blonde-haired woman.

While Yap only said “#italy #niceview” in the caption, many believe that the girl in the photo is his rumored Italian girlfriend.

In the photo, Yap and the woman were seen close to each other as they stand on a ledge made of bricks and rocks, with the sea behind them.

The Instagram photo sparked online buzz, getting more than 1,800 "likes" and over 200 comments as of writing.

Some netizens said they are happy for the basketball player for finally finding someone to be with, while others continued to question him for not being with his son, Bimby, last Father's Day.

In his earlier interviews, Yap said spending time with his son Bimby would be the best gift for Father's Day he could ever have.

Yap even cut short his vacation with his family in Negros Occidental, hoping to spend time with his son again after the Makati Regional Trial Court denied his ex-wife Kris Aquino's appeal for a permanent protection order (PPO) against him on behalf of their 6-year-old son late last month.

“Medyo matagal na rin kami hindi nagkikita. Sa billboard ko na lang siya nakikita, (laughs) sa TV. So ayun, excited [akong makasama siya],” he said.

Aquino, however, said on Tuesday that she did her part for Bimby to celebrate Father’s Day with Yap. Aquino said she texted Yap’s lawyers at 8 a.m. but didn’t get a reply until 4:45 p.m.

"Sinabi sa akin na sorry di daw nila makontak si Mr. Yap pero subukan ko na lang daw tumawag. Honestly, huwag naman akong gawing kontrabida kasi I did my share at 8 in the morning,” she said.

Based on Yap’s Instagram posts, he has been in Europe since the first week of June. His latest post revealed he is currently in Paris.

San Antonio Spurs vs Miami Heat Game 6 Preview, Replay, Live Result and Online Streaming

MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami Heat weren't supposed to be in this situation. Not now, anyway.

Coming home from Texas with their season on the line in 2011 was one thing. They were at the end of their first year together - LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh still trying to figure it all out and clearly a long way from it.

But this season they were the NBA's best team, one that lost three games in three months and made losing three times in one series look unlikely, if not downright unimaginable.

The San Antonio Spurs can finish Miami off Tuesday night in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, reaffirming themselves as one of the league's greatest franchises.

If so, the Heat's Big Three once again go from celebrated to devastated.

''We're going to see if we're a better team than we were our first year together,'' James said.

The Spurs took a 3-2 lead with their 114-104 victory Sunday night. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili were all brilliant again, and Danny Green added to what could become one of the most out-of-nowhere finals MVP campaigns ever.

One more victory makes the Spurs 5-0 in the NBA Finals, keeping pace with Michael Jordan's 6-0 Chicago Bulls as the only teams to make it here multiple times and never lose.

''We understand Game 6 is huge,'' Parker said. ''Obviously, you want to finish in the first opportunity you get. We understand that Miami is going to come out with a lot more energy, and they're going to play better at home. They're going to shoot the ball better. Their crowd is going to be behind them.''

None of that mattered two years ago.

Clearly reeling and their psyches shaken after dropping two straight games in Dallas, the Heat were blitzed early in Game 6. They never recovered, Bosh inconsolable as he made his way back to the locker room afterward while the Mavericks celebrated at center court.

James had to endure the criticisms that came with not getting it done in the finals, a story line that was put to rest last year but will be back again if the Heat don't manage to put together consecutive victories.

''We challenge ourselves to see if we're a better team than we were,'' Wade said. ''Same position no matter how we got to it.''

The Heat would also host Game 7 on Thursday. They're trying to join the 1988 and 2010 Los Angeles Lakers and 1994 Houston Rockets as the only teams to rally from 3-2 down by winning the final two on their home floor since the NBA Finals went to a 2-3-2 format in 1985.

Of course, the Heat - who won 27 in a row during the second-longest winning streak in league history - haven't put together consecutive victories now in close to a month.

''We're in a position where it's a must-win and everything that we've done all year comes to this point, and we have to win,'' Heat guard Ray Allen said. ''We've found ourselves in so many situations this year, and we've thrived in tough moments because this is a tough team. We will be ready for Game 6.''

So will the Spurs, and the Heat know it.

''I'm sure this team, they've been here before many times. They understand winning that last game is one of the hardest things you're going to do. And we understand it as well,'' Wade said.

''But you know what? It's the game; we've got to play it. I like our chances, just like they like their chances, in this series and in Game 6. We'll see. We'll see which team, which style is going to prevail.''

Their four titles have made the Spurs respected but never beloved. Their first, in 1999, came following a 50-game lockout season, and they certainly weren't the team to help the NBA regain its jilted fan base.

Victories in 2003 over New Jersey, 2005 over Detroit and 2007 over James' Cleveland Cavaliers were all low-rated, lukewarm-interest series in which the Spurs were supposed to win and did, just not in a way that erased the idea that they had boring players with a boring brand of basketball.

Win this one, though, and they will surely get their due. They would be knocking off the league's winningest team and the game's best player, with Duncan at 37 and Ginobili soon to be 36, behind a more wide-open offense that has helped Green break Allen's finals record for 3-pointers.

Not that they're thinking about that, or anything else beyond Game 6 at this point.

''We'll reflect back and let it hit us when it's over. We still have a lot more work to do. There's still some business to be done. We have to carry it out and finish it,'' said Green, who was cut previously by the Cavaliers and Spurs and now has made 25 3-pointers in the first five games.

It looked as though the game was finally passing by the Spurs last year, when the young Oklahoma City Thunder blew by them with four straight victories after San Antonio had taken a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference finals.

The Heat routed the Thunder for the championship and the Spurs brought back essentially the same team, believing another year in their system for players like Green and Kawhi Leonard was a better option than seeking out some quick-fix outsider.

That's almost always been the Spurs' way, and it's on the verge of again being the model for an NBA title - at the expense of the Miami one that once appeared to be the way champions would be built.

''I think every one of us wants this very badly from the top on down,'' Duncan said. ''We're trying to play that way.''

My Husband’s Lover - The Cast Photos

The era of teleseryes featuring your daily dose of romanticized heterosexual relationships may be over.

GMA’s gay-themed series “My Husband’s Lover (MHL)” starring Dennis Trillo, Tom Rodriguez and Carla Abellana premieres on June 10 on GMA Network. It is the network’s bold move to go against the boy-meets-girl plot cliché.

Will viewers suffering fantaserye fatigue, be ready to embrace the unconventional love triangle of MHL, which airs on viewer-rich television primetime hours? It’s a subject matter rival ABS-CBN tackles on occasion in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” but never on a daily basis.

In an interview with Yahoo! Philippines OMG!, GMA program manager Helen Rose Sese related that the management said yes easily when the show was presented to them.

“GMA has always been the network that offers innovative concept. It was approved by top management because it was based on the relatability of the masses to the topic,” she said.

Avoiding the backlash

Still, with more than 50 million Filipinos who have access to TV, the networks can’t afford alienating a huge chunk of them. Thus, GMA is presenting MHL as a drama about a wife (Carla Abellana) who fights for her husband (Tom Rodriguez) against his gay lover (Dennis Trillo).

“This show is not all about the gayness of the characters but more of a love story and a family drama. Our intention is not to promote gay and lesbian relationship, but more of [a reflection] that this is happening now,” Sese related.

She also said the creative team will be under scrutiny to try and avoid “noise on the part of religious groups,” she added. “We will make sure we don’t go beyond anything that will offend them, as well as the gay community.”

Fastest Computer in the world China 'Supercomputer'

A Chinese supercomputer is the fastest in the world, according to survey results announced Monday, comfortably overtaking a US machine which now ranks second.

Tianhe-2, a supercomputer developed by China's National University of Defense Technology, achieved processing speeds of 33.86 petaflops (1000 trillion calculations) per second on a benchmarking test, earning it the number one spot in the Top 500 survey of supercomputers.

The tests show the machine is by far the fastest computer ever constructed. Its main rival, the US-designed Titan, had achieved a performance of 17.59 petaflops per second, the survey's website said.
Five of the world's 10 fastest computers are installed in the US, the survey said, with the two in China, two in Germany and one in Japan.

The recognition of Tianhe-2, meaning Milky Way-2, as the world's fastest computer marks the return of the title to China after the machine's predecessor, the Tianhe-1 was ranked the world's fastest in November 2010, only to be overtaken by a machine from the US.

Unlike some of its Chinese predecessors, most of the Tianhe-2's parts are developed in China, except for its main processors, which are designed by US firm Intel.

"Most of the features of the system were developed in China...the interconnect, operating system, front-end processors and software are mainly Chinese," the list's website quoted editor Jack Dongarra as saying.
But the US still dominates the overall supercomputer rankings, with 252 systems making the top 500. The number of European machines, at 112 systems remains lower than the number of Asian machines, at 119, the list's website said.

The supercomputers on the Top 500 list, which is produced twice a year, are rated based on speed of performance in a benchmark test by experts from Germany and the United States.

'Sex-for-fly' scheme in Kuwait for distressed overseas Filipino workers?

MANILA – Some embassy and labor officials in Kuwait are allegedly involved in the so-called "sex-for-fly" scheme in which distressed overseas Filipino workers are forced to have sex with them in exchange for a ticket home.

"First of all, I’m really enraged by this thing going on. We immediately put up an investigating panel, five people in it and we welcome the investigation started by Congressman [Walden] Bello," said Charge d’ Affaires Atty. Raul Dado.

The move of the embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA) to create a five-man investigating panel was in response to Akbayan Rep. Walden Bello's call to probe the reported scheme. Bello is also the chairman of the House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs.

Labor Attache David Des Dicang condemns the reported scheme. He likewise appealed to alleged victims to come out and tell the truth.

"Kasama po ni Congressman Bello, kinokondena po namin itong mga balita na ito. At kung may katotohanan po ito, nanawagan po kami, lahat po ng mga complainants kung sinuman po sila, lumabas na po," said Dicang.

Victims already back in the Philippines are urged to file their complaints with the OWWA, the Department of Labor and Employment or with the Department of Foreign Affairs, while those still in Kuwait are also encouraged to report such incidents.

"Lumabas po kayo. Sabihin po ninyo ang totoo in the spirit of fairness and for the truth. Para malaman po natin ang totoo. Lumantad na po kayo para lumabas na po ang katotohanan at magawan po ng aksyon ang mga hinaing ninyo," he said.

The repatriation of distressed OFWs continues with the help from Kuwait immigration authorities. There are about 200 distressed OFWs temporarily staying at the Filipino Workers Resource Center in Kuwait.

"Nandito po kami para sa welfare at saka proteksyon ng mga OFWs, lalo na po yong mga alaga namin dito sa center. So kung may mga ganyang isyu po, willing naman po kami sa sinasabi nilang imbestigasyon, open naman po tayo doon because we will not condone such act," said Welfare Officer Norlita Lugtu.

The investigating panel vows to get to the bottom of the issue.

"I will personally make sure and use all my investigation skills to find out who this person is and to make him answer to the law to the fullest not only with an admin case but most especially with a criminal penalty of going to jail for this violation," said Dado.

Ginobili leads Spurs to Game 5 win

MANILA, Philippines -- San Antonio's Manu Ginobili, usually the designated sixth man for the Spurs, was inserted into the starting line-up for Game 5 of the NBA Finals and came through with his best performance of the series.

Heat vs Spurs Game 5 result | 2013 NBA Finals June 16 highlights video replay

Miami Heat are playing against the San Antonio Spurs at Game 5 of the 2013 NBA Finals held at the A&T Center in Texas on Sunday, June 16th.

It was a tight first quarter. Both teams were aggressive offensively and defensively although there were lots of turnovers, misses, fouls, and freethrows. As usual, San Antonio’s big three—Tim Duncan, Manu Ginóbili, and Tony Parker—did the job well for the team. It’s worthy to note that San Antonio inserted Ginóbili in the starting lineup.

Dwyane Wade, who played a monstrous Game 4, had turned the ball over to the opponent a few times. LeBron James was still cold, not showing much basketball action in the first quarter. He missed a couple perimeter shots and has not picked up his game yet. Danny Green, on the other hand, started hot and fired threes. Kawhi Leonard also helped widen the lead with shots beyond the arc. The Spurs made twelve straight points going to the last minute; they’re up by 13 in the first quarter.

1st Quarter Score: San Antonio Spurs 32 - 19 Miami Heat

San Antonio opened the second quarter with a tremendous run. Leonard was aggressive in attacking the rim, going straight to the goal strongly for added points. The Spurs are playing great offense despite several air balls and missed shots in both ends in the early minutes of the quarter. One of the highlights for the quarter happened when Duncan, who was actively present in the paint, completed a play with a slam dunk off an assist from Ginóbili.

Leonard and Danny Green continued to fire from downtown. The latter made history 6 minutes to go in the first half. He broke Ray Allen’s record of making the most threes in an NBA finals. Take note it’s still Game 5. Green has been the man for San Antonio so far.

However, the Heat made twelve straight points including a four-point play courtesy of Ray Allen. Duncan ended Miami’s 12-0 run with a fadeaway shot while being guarded by Chris Bosh, who’s been taking care of the boards for Miami. James started to pick up his pace and also made a fadeaway jumper. He overpowered Spurs defender Danny Green, making an easy two under three minutes remaining in the second period.

Duncan, on the other hand, capitalized on an entry pass from Ginóbili to add two more for San Antonio. Both teams weren’t playing with a point guard in the last minutes of the second quarter until Parker went back in for a fast play and added two just four tenths of a second. Spurs ended the period ahead by nine. Strong first half by San Antonio.

2nd Quarter Score: San Antonio Spurs 61 - 52 Miami Heat

With Mario Chalmers coming back into the game, Miami opened the third quarter with a 7-0 run, including his three-pointer off a pass from James who faked a drive. San Antonio retaliated with another three from Green quickly after a Wade turnover. He was shooting 70 percent from the three point range so far tonight.

Both teams exhanged firing threes under eight minutes in the third. Chalmers sank one while Leonard missed. Miami has stepped up their offense with James trying to grab rebounds and steals early on. Miami missed a couple transition opportunities while on the other end Parker successfully knocked a floater in. Spurs leading by four at this point. Parker continued to go extra hard and contributed more for San Antonio, but the Heat didn’t give up easily and kept coming back in transition to stay close in the game.

Miami was able to cut the lead to 1 after Wade completed a three-point play as Ginóbili committed his second foul. San Antonio launched a retaliation via a 3-point shot from Green and a completed 3-point play from Ginóbili. They had a 10-0 run while Miami committed a couple turnovers. Tough time for Miami in the third. San Antonio up by twelve.

3rd Quarter Score: San Antonio Spurs 87 - 75 Miami Heat

San Antonio had two very bad possessions to start the fourth quarter. Two minutes were gone as both teams had missed shots and turnovers, until Ginóbili responded huge with a floater to end the scoring drought. The left-handed shooting guard erupted tonight after struggling in the first 4 finals games.

The Spurs nailed Heat to 75 while they continued to play well, reaching a 19-point lead that forced Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra to call a timeout. The lead was extended to 20 with 3 minutes gone in the fourth. Allen’s back-to-back threes weren’t enough although Miami was taking it slowly to recover, one possession at a time. San Antonio had hit the 100th mark 6 minutes to go in the final quarter. Wade had a good look for an assist to Allen for a three-point corner shot to cut the lead. It was an 11-point game, 2:24 remaining.

Parker ended the Heat’s 9-0 run with a layup. The lead was sealed further by Ginóbili with a three. The Spurs took Game 5 at home and are one win away from an NBA title.

4th Quarter Score: San Antonio Spurs 114 - 104 Miami Heat (Final). San Antonio wins, Spurs lead series 3-2.

Daiana Menezes apologizes for twitter, instagram posts

MANILA – Brazilian model Daiana Menezes admitted she was just seeking attention from her husband, outgoing Cagayan de Oro Rep. Benjamin Benaldo, when she posted cryptic messages in various social networking sites recently.

In an exclusive interview with “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, Menezes stressed that she was never a victim of domestic violence as she apologized for the ruckus her posts have created.

“In a way, I was actually seeking [his attention]. He was so busy. Sometimes we don’t really get to see each other. I want to make it clear. Some people think that we want attention from the public, which is something like ‘No, no, no.’ We are just normal,” she said.

She added: “If I made no sense at all, my apologies but I really have my emotions.”

Early last week, the 25-year-old model shared a series of images pertaining to violence against women, including ones showing the words "No to rape," "Real Men Don't use Violence," and "There is no excuse for abuse."

Another photo on Menezes' Instagram page showed an arm bleeding from cuts and wounds.

The photos alarmed netizens and even women's groups and government agencies offered to help the Brazilian beauty.

Menezes' mother also flew to Manila after seeing the posts.

But in the interview, Benaldo clarified that Menezes just wanted him to listen to her story about "something that had happened."

“Something happened in the house and I was busy campaigning and I would always tell her that I need sleep. And then she would talk to me about things happening in the house. She thought I wouldn’t believe her so that’s why she put those things,” he said.

Contrary to the public’s interpretation of her posts, Menezes maintained she was never a battered wife.

“Sa kanya, masama ang effect eh. I came from a cover shoot, panay iyak lang ako. All the people would talk to me about Benjo, they would side with me, they would bash him, I would defend him,” she said.

“No. We are just like a normal couple. I regret having brought him into a situation that may allege him [of hurting me],” she added.

While he is portrayed to be the bad guy in this story, Benaldo said he actually didn’t mind because he and Menezes know the truth.

Asked what she learned from this incident, Menezes said: “You have to be careful of what you say because it’s up to the interpretation of whoever’s seeing it especially because they don’t know you very well.”

Benaldo and Menezes were married in December 2012.
